About the Department
The Department of Education at Mother Teresa Women’s University was established in 1985. It focuses on teaching, research, consultancy, and extension activities, contributing to the university’s holistic growth. It has been recognized as a “Centre for Excellence” by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Areas of expertise include Teacher Education, Special Education (MR), Techno-pedagogy, Professional Ethics, and Counseling. The department promotes women’s empowerment through various educational approaches and has served as the UGC RCC – Refresher Course Centre. It also acts as the nodal agency for SSA and RMSA monitoring in 17 districts across Tamil Nadu.
