Department of Historical Studies and Tourism Management
About the Department
The Department of Historical Studies was created in the year 1986. The main objective of the department is to make women visible in history through research. All research scholars pursue Ph.D. topics pertaining to women, enabling the restoration of the history and status of women belonging to various communities and fields across Tamil Nadu.
Closely tied to the department is the field of Tourism and Travel Management, which it interlinks to develop women professionals for worthwhile careers in the tourism industry. In 1990-91, the Department started the M.A. in History and Tourism programme. Later in 1995-96, the nomenclature was changed to Master of Tourism and Travel Management, which is now known as M.B.A (Tourism).
