Department of Physics
Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal
(DST-FIST Sponsored Department)
About the Department
Established in 2002, the Department of Physics initially offered M.Sc. Physics with Astrophysics specialization. In 2005, M.Sc. Materials Science, M.Phil., and Ph.D. were added.
The department emphasizes innovative teaching, ethical values, and hands-on research in cutting-edge physics domains.
It is a beneficiary of FIST (₹1.15 Cr, DST 2022) and DST-CURIE (2010). Faculty members are involved in numerous major projects funded by UGC, DST, SERB, and UGC-DAE-CSR.
