Department of Visual Communication
Mother Teresa Women’s University
Established in 2002
About the Department
The Department of Visual Communication was established in 2002 to cater to the evolving demands of the media industry. It blends theoretical insights with practical training across filmmaking, multimedia, advertising, and journalism. The department offers two core programs: M.Sc. Visual Communication and M.A. Mass Communication.
The curriculum combines lectures, group discussions, fieldwork, and hands-on projects to develop skills in interpersonal, organizational, and intercultural communication. Practical modules include interviewing, scripting, editing, presenting, and producing content for film, radio, television, and digital platforms. Students gain real-world experience through the creation of short films, documentaries, advertisements, and news features.
The department fosters a collaborative learning environment where teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking are emphasized. Students are mentored by faculty with industry experience and are evaluated through continuous assignments and group projects that mirror real-world challenges in the media landscape.
